Depending on the assigned clinical area within the Ambulatory Care Unit, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) may be required to be competent in multiple clinical settings. This job description addresses various scenarios where nurses are required to work in one or more areas requiring advanced training and experience. In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the LPN practices to full scope as per the Standards of Practice outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), as well as within a client and family-centered care model approach. Working in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, the LPN performs assessments, plans, implements and provides personal and nursing care to clients, according to organizational policies, procedures, standards, and unit specific protocols. The scope or extent of the skills that the LPN performs varies according to the predictability of the outcome for a given client population.
