Palliative Medicine Physician - Royal Columbian Hospital
About The Position
Fraser Health is seeking a compassionate part-time (0.6 FTE) palliative care physician to support a 5-month parental leave (Oct 2026 to Mar 2027) at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, BC. This is an exciting opportunity, where you will work alongside other palliative care physicians to provide consultation services to acute care and community-based patients. Throughout the Fraser Health Authority, we provide integrated, regional, comprehensive palliative care services in a number of settings including 30 Palliative Complex Care Unit (PCCU) beds; consult services in 12 acute care sites as well as in the community and other settings; and support up to 126 hospice beds. Additionally, we provide under-graduate and post-graduate teaching in affiliation with the Division of Palliative Care at the University of British Columbia. Royal Columbian Hospital is currently undergoing a redevelopment that will transform the hospital to a modernized medical and surgical health care campus. This will lead to more opportunities for expansion and enhancement of palliative care services.
Requirements
- Eligibility for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia is required.
- Certification from either the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- CCFP, CCFP (PC), CMPA, CPSBC Eligible, CPSBC Full, CPSBC Provisional
Nice To Haves
- Preference will be provided to individuals who have completed additional training in Palliative Medicine, from either stream outlined below: One-year enhanced skills residency and acquired the Certificate of Added Competence (CAC) through the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
- Two-year Royal College subspecialty in Palliative Medicine.
