This role functions as a member of the GI team, assisting physicians with procedures, decontaminating equipment, and preparing procedure rooms. The technician will understand procedures, patient positioning, and decontamination standards, working effectively in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Requirements

  • Technical School Diploma from a licensed practical nurse (LPN) program.
  • 3 years of experience in a Physician office practice setting.
  • Ability to accept and adapt to change and recognizes differences among people.
  • Demonstrates competency utilizing various technologies, equipment, and supplies to safely provide patient care.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to function independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to care for patients, utilizing a developmental perspective.
  • Excellent computer skills, including EMR, word processing, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of endoscopy equipment and how to perform decontamination procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of decontamination of GI scopes and equipment.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire.
  • LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire.

  • Proven proficiency of technology at conclusion of orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with GI and pulmonary procedures such as colonoscopies, endoscopies, and bronchoscopies.
  • Completes vital signs on patients and checks for height, weight, head circumference, growth charts, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and pain screening.
  • Functions as a member of the care delivery team to assist the provider and nurse.
  • Identifies actual or potential patient risks and communicates those risks to the licensed nurse or provider.
  • Performs clerical and front end functions to support patient care delivery.
  • Maintains current knowledge of insurance, managed care plans, and medical authorization requirements.
  • Problem solves, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in care and handling of equipment.
