Provides patient treatment under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Documents patient treatment and progress toward goals in the patient’s electronic health record. Implements established treatment programs and provides patient and family education.

Requirements

  • Licensed in State of Ohio PT/OT/AT Board Licensure/Certification
  • CPR Certification
  • O; clinical practicums
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with co-workers, physicians, patients and families.
  • Analytical abilities to assess patient conditions, capabilities and progress.
  • Complies with all applicable laws and regulations and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Administers physical therapy treatments and various modalities under the direction of a Physical Therapist.
  • Instructs, motivates and assists patients and their families in appropriate continued physical therapy programs as well as care of and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Observes and reports patients’ responses to treatment and progress and reports orally and/or in writing to the Physical Therapist.
  • Collaborates with Physical Therapist and other health team members to exchange and discuss patient information for planning, modifying and coordinating treatment programs.
  • Assists in assessment of patient’s skills and capabilities to determine extent of abilities and limitations.
  • Supervises and oversees department rehab aides for patient care related areas.
  • Precepts in the direction and evaluation of clinical experience / internships of students from participating colleges and universities.
  • Stays abreast of current developments and new technology in physical therapy.
  • Provides formal orientation to new Physical Therapy Assistants, aides and volunteers.
  • Maintains safety of the work environment including equipment and notifies appropriate personnel if necessary.
  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Mission and Core Values.
  • Adheres to standards and policies, laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrates the ABC’s of Mercy Health Culture.
  • Holds self and others accountable.
