Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Neurology
  • DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Fellowship training in epilepsy, neurodevelopmental disabilities, or physical medicine.
  • Experience with EEG interpretation and epilepsy management.
  • Experience with inpatient and outpatient pediatric neurology care.
  • Research, teaching, or clinical trial experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage pediatric patients with neurological disorders, including: Epilepsy and seizure disorders, Headaches and migraines, Developmental delays, Neuromuscular disorders, Cerebral palsy, Movement disorders, Neurogenetic conditions, Autism spectrum disorders with neurological concerns, Concussion and traumatic brain injury
  • Interpret and analyze diagnostic studies including EEGs, EMGs, MRI, CT scans, and other neurological testing.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor patient progress.
  • Prescribe medications and other therapeutic interventions, including transcranial magnetic stimulation, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, therapists, psychologists, and other specialists to provide coordinated patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary case conferences.
  • Provide on-call coverage as assigned.
  • Stay current with advances in pediatric neurology through continuing medical education and professional development.
