About The Position

BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking a part-time Licensed Optician to dispense spectacles and other optical products to adults and children. This role involves working with prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists, advising patients on lens and frame selections, and ensuring accurate order processing and member service. The position requires adherence to company policies, including privacy and HIPAA regulations, and contributes to a safe and positive environment for members and team members.

Requirements

• Must be licensed to work as an optician within the State and keep license up to date and active.
• Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and an attention to detail required.
• At least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred.
• High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, and/or optical experience is preferred.
• Open shift availability required for full time positions.

Responsibilities

• Dispense spectacles and other optical products to adults and children.
• Advise and assist patients with various types of lenses and spectacle frames, including style, weight, and color.
• Verify order data entry, compare Rx to original Rx, and ensure system accuracy.
• Complete proper order filing procedures.
• Deliver excellent Member service in person and over the phone.
• Explain in detail all procedures included under the exam fee.
• Take measurements, select correct frames for Rx power, and read prescriptions on the lensometer.
• Notify members of product readiness and advance orders in the system.
• Handle all money-related transactions accurately.
• Strive to deliver sales and metric goals by educating patients on product benefits and recommending solutions.
• Engage with members in front of the Optical department during downtime.
• Adhere to all privacy and confidential/proprietary company policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
• Provide support to Members in making eyeglass adjustments and repairs.
• Assist the Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure accurate funds are collected and payments are made at the point of service.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Carry out job functions and responsibilities as assigned.
