About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a Mental Health Therapist to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to people recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The therapist builds therapeutic relationships, works with a multidisciplinary team, and supports clients in achieving lasting recovery and improved mental wellness. The role includes developing individualized treatment plans; providing individual, group, family, and couples therapy; managing a caseload and overseeing clinical care; assessing client progress and adjusting interventions; providing crisis intervention and de-escalation; maintaining compliant clinical documentation; coordinating care with the Clinical Director, treatment team, and family members; and developing aftercare and discharge recommendations. The position is at Avenues Recovery Center at Prince Frederick, a 93-bed residential facility providing detoxification and inpatient rehabilitation services. Medical and clinical teams collaborate to provide care around the clock.

Requirements

Associate's or bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
Active state licensure or certification required to practice in the role; listed credentials include LCSW, LCPC, LGPC, CAC-AD, CSC-AD, and ADT.
Strong clinical judgment and observational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and strict confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
Experience working in behavioral health, mental health, addiction treatment, or residential treatment settings.
Experience facilitating group therapy.

Responsibilities

Create individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for each client.
Conduct individual, group, family, and couples therapy sessions.
Manage a caseload and oversee clients’ clinical care throughout treatment.
Assess client progress and modify treatment interventions as needed.
Provide crisis intervention, prevention, and de-escalation when necessary.
Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.
Collaborate with the Clinical Director, treatment team, and family members to ensure coordinated care.
Develop aftercare and discharge recommendations to support long-term recovery.
Model professionalism, integrity, accountability, dignity, and respect in every client interaction.
