About The Position

Backpack Healthcare is seeking licensed mental health therapists for part-time, remote work in Virginia. The role involves providing accessible mental health care to children, teens, and young adults through telehealth. The company is clinician-led and minority-owned, emphasizing flexibility, support, and growth opportunities for its clinicians. This position is ideal for those looking to supplement private practice, balance family life, or simply engage in meaningful work with flexible afternoon and evening hours. The therapist will manage a caseload of approximately 15-22 sessions per week, conducting individual and family therapy via telehealth. While weekday afternoons and evenings are the primary focus, weekend availability is a plus. Backpack Healthcare provides referrals, administrative support, billing, and credentialing, allowing therapists to build their own schedules. Daily tasks include conducting intakes, developing client-centered and trauma-informed treatment plans, providing therapy, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, maintaining EHR documentation, supporting families, and participating in clinical consultations.

Requirements

  • An active Virginia license: LPC, LPC-R, LCSW, or LMSW
  • Experience working with children, teens, and families
  • Comfort working independently in a remote environment
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills
  • A commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive care

Responsibilities

  • Conducting intakes and developing client-centered, trauma-informed treatment plans
  • Providing individual and family therapy through secure telehealth
  • Collaborating with our interdisciplinary team of therapists, PMHNPs, and psychiatrists
  • Maintaining timely, accurate documentation in our EHR
  • Supporting families through education, care coordination, and collaborative treatment
  • Participating in clinical consultation and contributing to a culture of high-quality care
