About The Position

This position involves providing behavioral health screening, individual and/or group psychoeducation, and skills-based interventions to detainees. The role requires assisting custody and medical staff in monitoring and managing behavioral health concerns, assessing therapeutic support for segregated and isolated detainees, and coordinating with county behavioral health services for continuity of care and discharge planning/case management. Responsibilities also include completing documentation, maintaining records for referral tracking and continuous quality improvement (CQI), demonstrating dedication to behavioral health support, and providing training.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a Behavioral/Social Science field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, etc.)
  • CPR certification must be obtained prior to hire and maintained while in this role.
  • Must be able to practice independently.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Current licensure with clinical specialty from the appropriate state licensing board

Responsibilities

  • Provide behavioral health screening of detainees referred by facility staff or identified by prescreening through booking process or nursing services.
  • Provide individual and/or group psychoeducation and skills-based interventions.
  • Assist custody and medical staff in the monitoring of behavioral health for referred detainees.
  • Coordinate with custody and medical staff in the management and treatment of detainees with behavioral health concerns.
  • Monitor and assess therapeutic support of segregated and isolated detainees.
  • Support and supplement the activities of county behavioral health services in the stabilization of at-risk detainees.
  • Coordinate with county behavioral health services for continuity of care and discharge planning/case management via sharing of pertinent patient information.
  • Complete documentation as well as maintain records for referral tracking and continuous quality improvement (CQI) under supervision.
  • Demonstrate commitment and dedication to providing behavioral health support and provide training to solve problems and make lives easier.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
