About The Position

The Licensed Mental Health Professional Master's at the Arkansas Department of Corrections (ARDOC) provides mental health services to patients using evidence-based practices, including screening, diagnostic evaluations, and therapeutic interventions such as brief therapy and crisis intervention. The professional follows applicable licensure standards and state and federal rules and regulations, and works under the direction of the Program Manager and Clinical Supervisor. This role is central to delivering quality mental health care to patients.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or a related field.
• One or more years of experience in a mental health treatment program.
• Licensed or license-eligible as a Master’s Social Worker or Counselor.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a correctional or hospital setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake evaluations, assessments, and triage for patients referred by Security, healthcare staff, and community sources, and recommend appropriate levels of care to the healthcare unit and security staff.
• Provide treatment services, including psychoeducational groups, substance abuse counseling, and transitional groups; develop treatment plans; conduct suicide risk assessments; and provide crisis intervention and management for high-risk patients.
• Oversee clinical needs of caseload patients and consult with healthcare and security staff regarding patient behavior and safety concerns.
• Provide linkage and discharge planning services when necessary.
• Work effectively with all staff, provide training on relevant mental health topics, document findings in patient health records, and comply with facility and company Safety and Mental Health Policies and Procedures.
• Participate in Peer Review activities and staff training, assist with job-shadowing during interviews of potential staff, and oversee the training and performance evaluations of direct reports.
