About The Position

The Licensed Mental Health Professional provides mental health services to inmates in a correctional facility. The role includes evaluating and triaging patients, recommending appropriate levels of care, developing treatment plans, and providing therapeutic interventions, crisis intervention, and suicide-prevention services. The professional monitors the clinical needs of patients on their caseload, coordinates medication-related care, participates in treatment and administrative meetings, trains staff on mental health topics, and documents findings in patient health records in accordance with facility and company policies.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or another related mental health discipline.
• At least one year of experience in a mental health treatment program.
• Unrestricted, current license in the state of practice, such as LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMHC, or Psychologist.
• Maintain all required licensures, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
• Must reside in the United States.

• Experience in a correctional or hospital setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct screenings, assessments, and triage for inmates referred by security, healthcare staff, and other community sources, and recommend an appropriate level of care.
• Develop and recommend treatment plans and provide treatment services, including psychoeducational and transitional groups.
• Provide suicide-prevention interventions and management techniques.
• Respond to sick-call requests, support medication adherence, and coordinate with prescribing providers for medication evaluations.
• Provide crisis intervention and oversee the clinical needs of patients on the caseload.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment-team meetings and administrative meetings.
• Provide staff training on relevant mental health topics.
• Document findings in patient health records and comply with facility and company policies and procedures.
