Conducts mental health assessments and provides reports with summary of findings and recommendations to the courts and/ or referring departments. Conducts and scores psychological testing such as intellectual and personality assessments, risk assessments, and substance abuse evaluations as needed. Responsible for obtaining/reviewing records, conducting clinical interviews, and preparing a written report of findings to the Court or other referring department. Interacts with judges, jail staff, probation officers, attorneys and other court staff in the collection of information pertaining to court ordered evaluations. Provides expert testimony to the Court when subpoenaed. Completes and maintains files and data pertaining to client assessments/evaluations. Provides mental health counseling and assists with treatment planning as needed and within the scope of expertise. May provide clinical supervision to interns and practicum students. Provides training to justice partners, the community and other county departments as needed and within the scope of expertise. Complies with agency policies and procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies, and documentation requirements. Demonstrates ethical conduct in all clinical and professional activities. Communicates and works with consumers, visitors, and other staff in a manner that demonstrates sensitivity to cultural diversities. Assists in the development and review of existing programs and makes recommendations for modifications/improvements. Is required to complete all evaluations in a timely and efficient manner. All positions within Behavioral Health Services are required to support the efficient functioning of the department. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. Adapts to changing work requirements.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology.
  • One-year experience.
  • Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas with required experience, licensure and background in mental health evaluations.
  • Knowledge of general court processes; proficiency in the administration of psychological assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic criteria and guidelines for formulating a diagnosis.
  • Strong computer, management, supervisory and organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with the public, other county employees, and elected officials.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to complete assignments within tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish Speaking preferred.
