About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is hiring for a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) to join their team at Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH) in the Addiction Services Division (ASD), Merritt 3AB. This role involves providing psychosocial treatment, discharge planning, case management, assessments, crisis intervention, and individual and group counseling to help patients achieve greater social and emotional stability. Merritt 3AB is a 30-bed rehabilitation unit specializing in trauma-informed care, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and offering a full range of medication-assisted treatment. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position on the second shift, Monday through Friday, 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm. The position may be eligible for shift differentials. DMHAS aims to promote the overall health and wellness of individuals with behavioral health needs through a network of holistic services.

Requirements

Possess the credentials of a Licensed Master Social Worker in the state of Connecticut.

Experience delivering evidence-based treatment to individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
Experience working in an inpatient behavioral health setting
Experience collaborating with licensed clinical staff to support client treatment goals in an inpatient setting
Experience applying trauma-informed and recovery-oriented principles
Experience conducting psychosocial assessments, safety screenings, or care coordination tasks
Knowledge of sign language and communication ability with the deaf and hearing impaired (in certain designated positions).
Ability in Spanish oral and written communication (in certain designated positions).
Ability to travel (in certain designated positions).

Responsibilities

Provide psychosocial treatment, discharge planning, case management, assessments, crisis intervention, and individual and group counseling.
Help patients achieve greater social and emotional stability.
Provide meaningful clinical services.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
Assist patients in moving toward successful discharge and community-based care.
Participate as a member of a treatment team.
Develop psychosocial assessments through clinical interviews with assigned clients and families.
Develop treatment plans, prepare discharge summaries, and provide individual, group, and family therapy, under supervision.
Advocate for clients and develop resources to assist clients in meeting identified needs.
Complete all required documentation including progress notes and make clinical observations of behavior.
Provide case management services as needed.
Prepare assigned client research and reading activities.
Perform a greater number of specific and complex clinical social work duties and maintain a larger caseload as skills are acquired.
May diagnose behavioral health conditions in consultation with licensed behavioral health care professionals.
