Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of massage.
  • Current certification from an accredited school of massage.
  • Valid license.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Auto insurance.
  • All Massage Therapy functions.
  • Oral communication Skills.

  • Ability to work with dying patients.

  • One-year experience working in a health-related setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient assessments to evaluate appropriateness for a massage therapy program and contributes to the plan of treatment.
  • Reports changes in the patient’s conditions and needs to the Registered Nurse Case Manager or Director of Patient Care Services.
  • Observes for safety hazards in the patient’s and organization’s environments and takes appropriate steps to reduce or eliminate them.
  • Designs and implements a variety of massage treatment and therapy plans to meet the individual needs of each patient.
  • Collaborates with members of the Hospice Team in planning physical treatments.
  • Provides therapeutic interventions (i.e. Swedish massage, Reiki, acupressure, cranio sacral therapy, myofascial release, reflexology, lymphatic drainage, etc.) according to the plan of care.
  • Provides education to the staff and community on the massage therapy program.
  • Maintains continuing education through academic studies, seminars, and workshops.
  • Attends and participates in in-services, staff meetings and case conferences.
  • Completes all documentation in an accurate and legible manner.
  • Complies with hospice policies and procedures, laws and regulations and standards of practice.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
