About The Position

This position installs, repairs, troubleshoots, and performs alterations to all plumbing systems, equipment, fixtures, and controls at all METRO facilities and properties. The role also involves general maintenance of all systems within Facilities Maintenance. Duties are to be performed in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Plumber.
  • Valid State of Texas Driver’s License.
  • Valid State of Texas Journeyman Plumber License.
  • Good working knowledge of plumbing codes.
  • Able to complete/fill-out written reports, records, and forms.
  • Able to maintain and/or obtain additional licensing or certifications as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and alterations to all plumbing, heating process, piping, sprinkler, irrigation, standpipe systems, production equipment, pumps, and backflow devices.
  • Read and interpret plumbing and piping prints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Complete and submit material and equipment requirements.
  • Clean, maintain, and service sanitary and storm system sumps, drains, waste lines, lift stations, and waste treatment plants.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Utilize pressure testing equipment, gauges, thermometers, and other instruments.
  • Solder, braze, weld, cut, and thread all types of piping and tubing.
  • Notify supervisor of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assist other trades and move equipment as required.
  • Maintain inventory of plumbing supplies and equipment.
  • Be available for emergencies, required overtime, varied work schedules, and shifts.
  • Clean assigned areas and equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
  • Apply SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and support all aspects of the agency’s Public Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
  • Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
