About The Position

Under general supervision, you will install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment throughout the facility. This role supports critical infrastructure, including power, lighting, signals, alarms, and emergency systems, and often involves working on complex electrical problems and systems. Patient Care Required: No Schedule Requirements May be required to participate in an on-call rotation and carry a pager. May be required to work weekends or rotating shifts.

Requirements

  • State Journeyman Electrician License required
  • Completion of 600 hours of formal technical electrical training required.
  • Successful completion of a four-year electrical apprenticeship required.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical theory, installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, and resolve complex electrical issues.
  • Experience working with electrical supplies, equipment, motors, generators, signal systems, and alarm systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical information and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain electrical issues to staff and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and independently when needed.
  • Physical ability to lift over 30 pounds (less than 15% of the time) and work safely in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain circuits for heat, power, lighting, motors, signals, and alarm systems.
  • Perform inspections and testing of motors, signal and alarm systems, electrical receptacles, emergency generators, lighting systems, and special grounding systems.
  • Complete preventive and predictive maintenance on assigned electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, circuits, wiring, and related equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing, inspections, maintenance activities, and assigned work.
  • Respond to electrical emergencies and urgent facility needs as required.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, and management regarding electrical systems and operational concerns.
  • Participate in departmental planning activities and assist with developing solutions to complex electrical issues.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment within assigned Engineering Department areas.
  • Respond to service calls from all areas of the hospital as assigned.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards.
