About The Position

This role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, including lighting, outlets, panels, switches, transformers, and emergency power systems, covering both high and low voltage. The position also includes performing preventive maintenance, testing, and documentation for generators and transfer switches, diagnosing electrical failures, and completing corrective repairs in compliance with relevant standards. Additionally, the role encompasses general facilities maintenance duties such as minor carpentry, ceiling tile replacement, minor plumbing repairs, and assisting with HVAC tasks. The electrician will also conduct building inspections, respond to work orders, and ensure safety and compliance with various regulations and hospital policies, including Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) and lockout/tagout procedures. The work environment is a hospital setting, with potential for indoor and outdoor work, and may require on-call availability, including evenings, weekends, and emergency response.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid state electrician license (Journeyman, per state requirements)
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial, institutional, or healthcare electrical experience
  • Demonstrated experience performing general facilities maintenance technician duties
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and time-management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Hospital or healthcare facilities experience
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, NEC, and Life Safety Code standards
  • Experience with emergency power supply systems (EPSS)

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems including lighting, outlets, panels, switches, transformers, and emergency power systems (high and low voltage).
  • Perform preventive maintenance, testing, and documentation for generators, transfer switches, and essential electrical branches.
  • Diagnose electrical failures and complete corrective repairs in compliance with NEC, NFPA, and hospital standards.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Perform general facilities maintenance including minor carpentry, door/lock hardware repairs, ceiling tile replacement, wall protection installation, and minor plumbing repairs.
  • Assist with HVAC support tasks such as filter changes, thermostat checks, equipment monitoring, and reporting irregularities.
  • Conduct routine building inspections and report deficiencies.
  • Respond to routine, urgent, and after-hours work orders as assigned.
  • Follow OSHA, NEC, NFPA, CMS, and hospital safety policies.
  • Comply with Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) requirements for all work activities.
  • Use proper PPE and follow lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Secure work areas to protect patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Participate in Environment of Care (EOC), Life Safety, and emergency preparedness rounds.
