About The Position

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for licensed US electrical engineers with professional experience in power systems, controls, electronics, signal processing, technical documentation, and industry-standard engineering tools. This role supports an AI research initiative focused on improving how advanced systems understand and reason about electrical engineering topics. Selected professionals will evaluate written and AI-generated content, answer technical questions, identify relevant reference materials, and provide practical insight into real-world electrical engineering workflows, standards, and professional decision-making.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional electrical engineering experience
  • An active Professional Engineer licence in the United States
  • Experience in power systems, controls, electronics, signal processing, or multiple electrical engineering areas
  • Strong familiarity with relevant electrical codes, technical standards, and professional documentation
  • Practical experience using MATLAB, AutoCAD Electrical, SPICE, or similar engineering tools
  • Professional working proficiency in English
  • Strong written communication, technical reasoning, and attention to detail
  • Reliable availability for approximately 10 hours per week
  • Based in the United States
  • A degree in electrical engineering from a recognised institution is required
  • An active US Professional Engineer licence is required

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced study or professional training in power engineering, control systems, electronics, signal processing, or a related area may strengthen an application
  • Continuing education involving electrical standards, simulation tools, system design, or engineering safety may also be valuable
  • Experience across more than one electrical engineering discipline
  • Background preparing technical specifications, schematics, calculations, or training materials
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation, power-system modelling, automation, or embedded systems
  • Experience reviewing or mentoring the work of junior engineers
  • Knowledge of engineering quality assurance, peer review, design verification, or validation
  • Comfort using AI tools such as ChatGPT or comparable systems
  • Previous experience with content evaluation, structured feedback, or AI training projects
  • A portfolio of completed electrical, controls, electronics, or power-system projects

Responsibilities

  • Review written content and AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, relevance, and professional quality.
  • Assess whether calculations, analyses, recommendations, and conclusions reflect sound electrical engineering practice.
  • Identify incorrect assumptions, circuit-design errors, omitted constraints, and technical inconsistencies.
  • Evaluate content within the candidate's strongest areas of electrical engineering expertise.
  • Answer electrical engineering questions using clear, well-reasoned technical explanations.
  • Apply professional judgment to power systems, control systems, electronics, and signal-processing scenarios.
  • Assess whether responses account for electrical loads, system behaviour, component limitations, operating conditions, and safety requirements.
  • Provide corrections and supporting rationale where content requires improvement.
  • Review the application of relevant electrical codes and standards, including NEC and IEEE guidance.
  • Identify reliable technical references appropriate to assigned engineering topics.
  • Assess whether cited methods, equations, and assumptions suit the relevant design or operating context.
  • Highlight safety, regulatory, technical, and procedural considerations affecting engineering decisions.
  • Share insight into practical electrical engineering workflows, documentation, and quality-control processes.
  • Evaluate content involving MATLAB, AutoCAD Electrical, SPICE, or comparable engineering tools.
  • Review technical specifications, calculations, schematics, design reports, and training materials.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with a small group of subject-matter experts across different fields.

Benefits
