About The Position

The Licensed Dietitian will be responsible for consulting, advising, and providing instructions to ensure quality food services are consistently provided. This role involves monitoring food service activities, assisting with policy updates, participating in staff development, planning menus and therapeutic diets, and ensuring food is prepared and served appropriately. The Dietitian will also consult with various program managers and medical staff regarding client nutritional needs and maintain accurate records of visits and work performed. Availability for state and federal inspections is also required.

Requirements

  • Must maintain a current Florida Nutritional Dietician (ND) License.
  • Must maintain an active registration with the Commission on Dietitian Registration.
  • Both license and registration must be on file with the HR Department at all times.
  • Knowledge of the nutritional needs of clients with behavioral health and substance abuse issues.
  • Must stay current in the development of food items and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Consulting, advising, and giving instructions to the Food Service Coordinator, dietary staff, Medical Director, and Program Managers to ensure quality Food Services.
  • Completing an assessment on the Quality Assurance Report form after each visit, covering patron satisfaction, quality food production, patient nutritional status, and safety and sanitation practices.
  • Reviewing findings and recommendations with the Quality Assurance Director.
  • Monitoring the activities of the Food Service components to ensure the nutritional needs of clients are met in accordance with physicians’ orders, the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Organization and Florida Administrative Codes.
  • Assisting in the annual updates of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participating in the planning and conducting of in-service programs and staff development for Agency personnel and clients.
  • Assisting in the planning of menus and therapeutic diets and approving all menus at least annually.
  • Periodically reviewing menus and replacing unpopular items.
  • Monitoring that foods are prepared and served with regard to nutritive value, flavor, appearance and appropriate temperatures.
  • Consulting with Program Managers of the ASU, SRT, TGH, CCSU, DETOX Units and Medical Director to discuss concerns specific to their departments and/or client’s nutritional needs.
  • Documenting concerns and recommendations on Page 5 of the QA Report and submitting the report to the Quality Assurance Director.
  • Maintaining accurate and current records of dates, times, and length of visits and work performed in the facility.
  • Performing all other responsibilities required of a qualified consultant dietitian as set forth in any other federal or state laws, statutes, or regulations.
  • Being available to the Agency during any and all state and federal inspections and accreditation, as requested by the Agency.
