About The Position

The Licensed Counselor will provide individual counseling services to students, including initial intake, diagnostic impressions, and treatment plan development. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate care, referring for psychological testing, and providing crisis intervention. Documentation will be maintained in an Electronic Health Care record following Medicaid guidelines. Additionally, the counselor will provide educational outreach on mental health issues to students, faculty, and staff, and attend relevant meetings to assess the impact of counseling services.

Requirements

Master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling.
Licensure as LCSW or LPC in the state of Colorado.
Special knowledge or skill in crisis intervention.
Electronic Health Care record experience.
Two or more years of experience in individual, couples, and/or group counseling.

Doctoral degree
Other certifications in specialty counseling.

Responsibilities

Provide individual counseling services to students, including initial intake, diagnostic impression, and treatment plan development.
Collaborate with other counselors, the Wolfpack Wellness Team, psychiatric nurse practitioner, psychiatrist, and Director of the Wolfpack Counseling Center to ensure appropriate level of care.
Refer for psychological testing and/or to other mental health care providers.
Provide crisis intervention on campus for students in imminent danger to self or others, including arranging transport for immediate evaluation and treatment.
Complete documentation of behaviors, impression, acuity of student needs, and reasons for transport in the Electronic Health Care record, following Medicaid guidelines.
Document intake information, diagnostic impression, assessments, progress notes, crisis intervention, contacts, treatment plan, and goals for individual students.
Document progress toward goals in each session, including interventions utilized.
Determine the need for referral for other services if progress is not shown or if the student demonstrates a need for other services.
Provide education for student, faculty, and staff regarding mental health issues.
Attend staff meetings, department meetings, and division meetings.
