About The Position

This position is .60 FTE (24 hours a week). The Licensed Counselor will provide individual counseling services to students, including intake, diagnosis, treatment planning, and progress monitoring. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, providing crisis intervention, and maintaining detailed documentation in an Electronic Health Care record following Medicaid guidelines. Additionally, the counselor will be involved in educational outreach to students, faculty, and staff regarding mental health issues and attend various meetings to assess the impact of counseling services on university goals. Ancillary duties include attending continuing education to maintain licensure and/or certification.

Requirements

Master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling.
Licensure as LCSW or LPC in the state of Colorado.
Special knowledge or skill in crisis intervention
Electronic Health Care record experience
Two or more years of experience in individual, couples, and/or group counseling.

Doctoral degree
Other certifications in specialty counseling.

Responsibilities

Provide individual counseling services to students by completing initial intake information, establishing a diagnostic impression, developing a treatment plan with goals and determining progress toward individual student's goals.
Collaborate with other counselors, Wolfpack Wellness Team, psychiatric nurse practitioner, psychiatrist, and Director of Wolfpack Counseling Center to ensure the appropriate level of care is utilized to best meet the needs of the students.
Refer for psychological testing when applicable and/or to other mental health care providers to ensure the best outcome for the student.
Provide crisis intervention on campus in the event a student is an imminent danger to self or others and arrange transport for immediate evaluation and treatment in a safe environment for the student.
Complete documentation of behaviors, impression, acuity of student needs and reasons for transport.
Document intake information, diagnostic impression, assessments, progress notes, crisis intervention, contacts, treatment plan and goals for individual students.
Document progress toward goals in each session.
Document interventions utilized to meet the goals and demonstrate progress in line with student’s treatment plan.
Determine need for referral for other services in the event that progress is not being shown and/or the student demonstrates the need for other services, i.e. psychological testing, medication, psychiatric intervention, higher level of care.
Provide education for student, faculty and staff regarding mental health issues.
Attend staff meetings, department meetings and division meetings to assess how counseling is assisting in meeting departmental, divisional and university mission and goals.
Attend continuing education opportunities to enhance knowledge base and maintain licensure and/or certification, if applicable.
