About The Position

Provide professional counseling services in a DUHS program designed in assisting participants in behavior change to maintain a healthy lifestyle and quality of life through individual and group therapy. This role is part-time, with specific hours on Thursdays and Fridays, and occasional early morning appointments. The position is located at Duke Raleigh Hospital, a campus of Duke University Hospital, which offers a comprehensive array of services including cancer, cardiovascular, neuroscience, advanced gastrointestinal, and wound healing care.

Requirements

Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work.
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHCs) by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (NCBLCMHC).

Responsibilities

Provide professional counseling services to patients and their families enrolled in programs such as Cardiac Rehabilitation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Weight Management, Stress Management, Healthy Escapes, and Executive Health.
Counsel and teach behavior change, stress management, mindful eating sessions, and smoking cessation classes to assist participants in achieving prescribed objectives.
Administer, interpret, and assess the results of program-administered assessment tests.
Assist with the development of mind/body programming into wellness programs, including cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and weight management.
Provide education to patients and families related to issues that impact patient care.
Conduct lectures and participate in community outreach activities.
Identify concerns and make referrals to other specialists when needed.
Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Provide guidance and coaching to staff members working with clients as needed.
Facilitate problem-solving between staff and/or clients.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
