About The Position

The Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) will provide individualized counseling, education, and medication-assisted recovery to opioid-dependent adults in a safe, medically sound, and therapeutic environment. The goal is to provide opportunities for individuals to explore, change, and strengthen themselves to lead a healthy and productive life. This role involves completing individual and group counseling sessions, patient admissions, and comprehensive clinical assessments to ensure efficient access to treatment. A key responsibility is preparing and maintaining Person-Centered Plans (PCP) and Crisis Plans for Medicaid/Medicare clients, updating them as needed and uploading all related documents to the appropriate LME/MCO provider portal. The specialist will also handle the research, correction, and re-submission of denied authorizations, track Medicaid/Medicare recipient eligibility monthly, and monitor the submission of assessments and claims. A weekly report of billable services is also required.

Requirements

Master’s degree (M.A) in Psychology, Counseling or, Social Work or related field or Associates Degree in Counseling or related field.
Maintain their LCAS-A or LCAS, credentials.
Maintain their credentialing with NCTRACKS and the designated LME/MCO.
Registration with the North Carolina Substance Abuse Board is required.
Complete all mandated continuing education hours to uphold licensure.
If in recovery, at least 2 years of continuous sobriety is required.
Ability to work independently as well as with the team.
Ability to maintain a high level of professional ethics.

Responsibilities

Complete individual and group counseling sessions to patients on the assigned caseload.
Complete patient admissions and orientation for treatment services.
Complete Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (CCA), ensuring efficient and prompt access to treatment.
Prepare the Person-Centered Plan (PCP) and Crisis Plan for each Medicaid/Medicare client.
Maintain the PCP, updating it based on client needs and/or requirements of the Medicaid/Medicare service definition and LME/MCO.
Upload all Medicaid/Medicare-related documents to the appropriate LME/MCO provider portal.
Research, correct, and re-submit all denied authorizations and re-authorizations.
Track each Medicaid/Medicare recipient's eligibility via NCTRACKS monthly to review individual Medicaid/Medicare eligibility.
Monitor the submission of CCA, PCP, and claims to the LME/MCO via the designated LME/MCO provider portal.
Compile an accurate weekly report of all billable services.
