About The Position

AltaMed is seeking a passionate Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist (LCSW/LMFT) to join their team. This role involves applying psychological and counseling principles to patient care within a primary care setting. The therapist will be responsible for assessment, clinical interventions, research, training, case management, consultation, supervision of non-licensed staff, and program development. Key responsibilities include diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning, utilizing various evidence-based interventions such as individual, group, child, and family therapy, short-term problem-solving, cognitive behavioral therapy, brief psychodynamic therapy, crisis intervention, coping skills, substance abuse treatment, and behavior modification. The therapist will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with medical providers, nursing staff, case managers, and administrators to define treatment goals and measure success using evidence-based outcome measures. The role may also involve attending conferences, workshops, and participating in research studies or multidisciplinary projects.

Requirements

  • Professional Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) by the California Behavioral Science Board.
  • Master's level degree required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children.
  • Minimum one year of clinical experience for LCSW.
  • A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Applies psychological/counseling principles in assessment, clinical interventions, research, training, case management, consultation, supervision of non-licensed staff, and program development.
  • Integrates behavioral health services into a primary care setting.
  • Performs diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning.
  • Provides individual, group, child, and family therapy.
  • Utilizes interventions focused on short-term problem-solving therapy, short-term cognitive behavioral therapy, brief psychodynamic therapy, crisis intervention, coping skills, substance abuse treatment, and behavior modification.
  • Conducts case consultations and applies other evidence-based practice techniques.
  • Collaborates with patients to define treatment goals and measures of success using evidence-based outcome measures.
  • Attends conferences/workshops concerning mental health treatment.
  • May be involved in research studies or multidisciplinary projects.
