About The Position

Yavapai County Library District is seeking a Part-Time Library Transit Clerk I responsible for the timely transport and distribution of library materials between multiple branch locations. This position requires regular travel from site to site, with early morning delivery schedules beginning as early as 4:00 am. Work involves continuous physical activity, including repetitive use of arms, wrists, and fingers, as well as lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds multiple times daily. Candidates must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to perform essential job functions in a fast-paced, physically active environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of transportation, delivery, or general office experience.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of library transit and circulation policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
  • Knowledge of current Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of filing and recordkeeping.
  • Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
  • Skill in organization and adherence to detail.
  • Ability to carry out assigned responsibilities with zero errors according to established department standards and within the prescribed timeframe.
  • Ability to assist others within the central sorting facility as needed.
  • Ability to provide helpful and accurate assistance to those transiting materials from other YLN libraries.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
  • Ability to keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
  • Ability to remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
  • Ability to act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

  • Picks up and delivers library materials, maintains a schedule, and operates a van.
  • Sorts, processes, prepares transit totes for delivery, and operates various office equipment including an automated materials handling (AMH) system.
  • Tracks statistics associated with the delivered materials including entering statistical data into computer spreadsheets, files, and/or other software.
  • Tags materials that do not have a radiofrequency identification (RFID) chip.
  • Utilizes the integrated library system (ILS) to prepare items for transit that have been placed on hold by patrons and use the ILS to resolve issues with improperly transited items.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
