About The Position

Geisel Library at Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, seeks a part-time Periodicals Supervisor to join their team. This is a fall and spring semester (16 weeks each term) position. One-four shifts are available: Tuesday 5:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m., Wednesday 5:30 p.m. - 12:00 am, Saturday’s 6:00 p.m.– 11:00 p.m., Sunday 6 pm to 12:00 a.m. Candidates must complete the online application, and provide a cover letter, resume, and three references to be considered for the position. Additional evening and weekend hours may be possible throughout the academic year. Periodicals Supervisors are also cross-trained to provide supervision of Circulation Desk operations. Successful candidates will be able to assist the college in advancing its mission and strategic priorities, which includes institution-wide diversity and inclusiveness.

Requirements

  • Able to work independently and follow directions
  • Reliable and dependable attendance, including the ability to work during severe weather events
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to resolve patron concerns and difficulties with tact, courtesy, and sound judgment
  • Flexibility to assist in occasional coverage of other shifts
  • Proven history of working in a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Demonstrated capacity for embracing change and new initiatives, programs, and services
  • Strong office and computer skills
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • An Associate degree plus 1-2 years of relevant experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience working with library computer systems, such as Sierra, LibGuides, and Illiad

Responsibilities

  • Managing all Periodical Desk operations during assigned hours
  • Checking out library materials using an automated library circulation and security system
  • Supervising student assistants
  • Aiding patrons with photocopying, scanning, and printing
  • Maintenance of the library collection such as shelving materials and shelf reading
  • Assisting with Interlibrary Loan request processing
  • Assisting with the security of users and collections
  • Opening/closing the library
  • Other projects as assigned
  • Cross-trained to provide supervision of Circulation Desk operations
