About The Position

The Library Teaching Assistant supports library staff by handling circulation desk duties, book processing, creating book displays, and training/supervising student workers. This role facilitates the efficient management of the school library and often serves as the initial point of contact for students seeking general information and library resources. The position aims to allow library staff more focused teaching time with students.

Requirements

Familiarity with computers and online applications (including but not limited to Google Drive, email, web searching, online catalog).
Enjoys working with students & teachers.
Ability to process and shelve books.
Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment with willingness to learn new skills.
Ability to create thematic book displays.
Consistent and on-time attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

Experience in Follett/Destiny is a plus.

Responsibilities

Manage circulation desk: Check books, Chromebook laptops, and other supplies in and out.
Manage overdues and obligations: Send notices and follow up.
Maintain and report weekly, monthly, and yearly statistics to the Librarians.
Check students from Directed Study in and out of the Library; follow up with teachers as necessary and enforce library policies.
Answer library phone, respond to general questions, and redirect as necessary.
Train and supervise student workers.
Manage collection: Process and catalog new books.
Shelve books, journals, DVDs, etc.
Perform book repair.
Set up and maintain themed displays inside the library and in the corridor outside the library.
Make student IDs.
Laminate materials for faculty.
Order supplies.
Manage the copy machine (teach students how to use it, maintain paper supplies, etc.).
Maintain supplies for the printer (paper, toner) and student supply desk (paper, pencils, etc.).
Provide substitute educator services as needed.
Attend trainings related to the position.
