Federal work-study students are sought for part-time (six to 10 hours per week) stacks assistant positions at Shannon and Clemons Libraries for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters. This role is crucial for ensuring library materials are available to patrons. Responsibilities include returning books to the stacks, shifting book sections, assisting patrons with book searches, retrieving books, and performing general stacks maintenance like dusting. The position requires the ability to lift books, push heavy book carts, and tolerate dust exposure. Strong attention to detail, learning the Library of Congress call number system, working independently, self-motivation, and taking pride in one's work are essential. Full training will be provided, and shift schedules are flexible and determined with the Stacks Supervisor. A resume and cover letter are required, detailing the applicant's suitability for the role. A brief attention-to-details test will be administered during the interview.
