About The Position

Under general supervision, this role provides customer service, reference assistance, and basic computer knowledge to library patrons. The position is responsible for planning and assisting with public programs for teens and adults. This is a Non-Exempt FLSA status position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid AZ driver's license.
  • Must be able to work AM and/or PM shifts and Saturday shifts.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with staff as well as supervisors.
  • Ability to think independently and make decisions easily under pressure.
  • Physical ability sufficient to operate equipment including computers and telephones; to shelve books on carts daily; and to lift normal library materials.
  • Visual ability sufficient to read and write reports and to use normal office equipment.
  • Hearing ability sufficient to understand and hold conversations with others in person and by telephone.
  • Speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with others in person and by telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service, reference help, and imparts basic computer knowledge to library patrons.
  • Plans and assists with public programs for teens & adults.
  • Assists with daily operations and administration as needed.
  • Develops and monitors library programs for teens & adults.
  • Performs outreach.
  • Creates fliers, announcements, and other written marketing.
  • Assists the department with Social Media.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
