About The Position

Join King County Library System as a Library Page! King County Library System is accepting applications for Library Page positions to fill openings throughout our library system. This recruitment will be used to build a pool of qualified candidates for vacancies across the entire county as we expand service to our communities. Please note that available schedules, hours, and work locations will vary by vacancy and will be discussed with candidates during the hiring process. While applying for these roles, you will have the opportunity to indicate your schedule and location availability in the supplemental questions. Library Pages play an essential role in creating welcoming, organized library spaces for our communities. In this position, you'll accurately and efficiently handle, sort, and shelve library materials, helping ensure patrons can easily find what they're looking for. You'll also maintain the overall appearance and organization of the library by keeping shelves orderly, straightening books and materials, and helping keep public spaces clean and inviting. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to build positive relationships with both coworkers and patrons from all backgrounds. Requirements

  • Applicants must attach a current resume and cover letter which addresses relevant work experience, education and training as it relates to this position.
  • Ability to read English and sort in alphanumeric order
  • Ability to learn the Dewey Decimal System.

Responsibilities

  • Shelves and maintains order of materials.
  • Moves, distributes and assists with processing of incoming and outgoing materials manually and using materials handling equipment.
  • Assists with opening, maintaining and closing libraries, including equipment and grounds activities.
  • Prepares rooms for meetings and assures that accessories needed for meetings are available.
  • Inspects materials for damages and process accordingly.
  • Assists with program setup and takedown.
  • Assists with displays and assigned projects and programs.
  • Provides minimal directional assistance to patrons.
  • Refers other questions.
  • Participates in activities such as committee work, training, staff meetings, etc.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
