About The Position

This full-time position serves as the primary evening Supervisor on Duty during the fall and spring semesters, providing building oversight and staff support from 3:00pm to midnight while other library staff manage the reference and services desk. During summer months, the schedule shifts to standard daytime hours and the position takes on expanded off site storage location responsibilities including inventory, shifting, and archival item cataloging support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement in a supervisory or lead capacity
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data-entry and record-keeping tasks
  • Ability to work effectively with library management systems and scheduling software
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work the required evening schedule during fall and spring semesters

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an academic library or higher education environment
  • Familiarity with integrated library systems, particularly OCLC WorldShare Management Services (WMS)
  • Experience with Springshare products (LibCal, LibStaffer)
  • Experience in a supervisory or lead staff role
  • Knowledge of serials management or cataloging principles
  • Experience with Banner student information system or similar enterprise systems
  • Experience with AVR equipment management or inventory systems

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Supervisor on Duty during evening hours 3:00pm-12:00am Monday-Friday during fall and spring semesters
  • Ensure safe and orderly operation of the library building
  • Respond to patron and staff needs, enforce library policies, and make operational decisions in the absence of day shift supervisors.
  • Provide building oversight and escalation support
  • Perform ongoing bibliographic maintenance in the library's catalog and WorldShare Management Services (WMS)
  • Run scheduled patron loads into WMS from Banner student information system data.
  • Resolve patron record errors, merge duplicates, and ensure patron data integrity for accurate access and borrowing privileges.
  • Coordinate annex pickup and drop-off workflows year-round to support patron requests and interlibrary loan.
  • During the summer, assume expanded responsibility for annex (off site storage) operations including physical inventory, collection shifting, and assistance with archival item cataloging.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Conduct periodic shelf-reading and collection maintenance to ensure accuracy of location data and physical collection order.
  • Serve as primary administrator for LibStaffer (staff scheduling) and LibCal (room and event booking systems).
  • Manage scheduling configurations, publish schedules, troubleshoot booking issues, and provide basic training and support to staff users of both platforms.
  • Maintain oversight of all equipment, including computers, Audio/Visual/Recording (AVR) equipment inventory and condition.
  • Conduct regular checks to confirm equipment is functional and properly stored.
  • Report maintenance concerns and malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Back up to Serials Check-in.
  • Assist with interlibrary loan operations including processing requests, coordinating pickups and returns with the annex, and communicating with patrons and partner institutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to library-wide projects, attend staff meetings, support special events, and assist with emerging needs as library operations evolve.
