About The Position

Meeting Street is seeking a full-time Library Media Teacher to join their team. This role involves teaching students of all abilities essential reading, research, and media skills, fostering information literacy and digital citizenship. The Library Media Teacher will develop engaging lesson plans with diverse content, collaborate with external libraries and agencies, and provide guidance on technology and intellectual property regulations. A key aspect of this role is creating a nurturing and supportive classroom environment that encourages student responsibility and utilizes effective classroom management techniques. Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree with valid school librarian/media certification from RIDE or the ability to obtain.
Work environment and physical requirements consistent with those of a typical school environment.
Ability to move about the classroom and building continuously throughout the workday.
Utilize the computer (20%) of the time and other office equipment.

Responsibilities

Teaches grade and age-appropriate reading, research and media skills in conjunction with students’ voice and choice in learning to address real-world issues and activities.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that consistently contain diverse content and genres throughout the academic year.
Provides a variety of learning experiences so that students demonstrate skills and concepts such as information literacy, digital citizenship, online research, and evaluating sources learned through individual and group performance.
Cooperates and networks with other libraries, librarians, media specialists, and agencies to provide access to resources outside the school.
Models effective strategies for developing multiple literacies.
Provides guidance in software and hardware evaluation.
Understands copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property regulations, and assists others with their understanding and observance of the same.
Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
Provides a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom environment that encourages student responsibility, using positive motivation, clear classroom routines, challenging instructional strategies and effective classroom management techniques.
