The Library Media Specialist/Instructional Assistant will provide students with an enriched library environment and aid them in acquiring the skills needed to utilize Library Media Center (LMC) resources. This role involves demonstrating professional leadership, assessing learning, understanding content, reflecting on teaching, planning instruction, collaborating with others, creating a positive learning climate, engaging in professional development, and implementing technology. The position requires adherence to school policies, development of LMC goals and budgets, coordination of KETS (if assigned), and guidance for students in reference work and reading. The specialist will collaborate with teachers, select and process LMC materials, promote appropriate student conduct, train assistants, maintain inventory, and ensure the LMC is a functional and attractive environment. Participation in school committees, professional organizations, and special projects is also expected. The role requires adherence to the professional code of ethics, regular attendance, and a professional appearance, incorporating technology in daily tasks.
