About The Position

Martin Luther School (MLS) is looking for a certified School Library Media Specialist who believes books, technology, and meaningful relationships can open doors for every learner. Join our team to build a dynamic library program that supports curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning. The certified School Library Media Specialist will support the mission of Gemma Services and Martin Luther School by creating academically rigorous, emotionally supportive, and inclusive learning environments. Develops and delivers instruction aligned to Pennsylvania standards, supports students’ social-emotional and behavioral needs, collaborates across teams, and maintains a classroom culture that fosters safety, belonging, curiosity, and growth. Implement schoolwide systems for instruction and behavior and contribute to the overall climate and success of the school.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Pennsylvania Instructional Certification in the appropriate academic content area or grade band is required.
  • For K–6 classroom teachers and 7-12 content area teachers, a Pennsylvania Elementary Education Certification is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Training or experience in trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, or Positive Behavior Support preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop standards-aligned lesson plans that integrate academic and social-emotional learning.
  • Deliver instruction using effective, evidence-based practices that meet diverse learner needs.
  • Use multiple assessment methods to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Maintain clear learning targets and high expectations for all students.
  • Design learning experiences that promote student engagement, voice, and choice.
  • Maximize instructional time with strong routines, pacing, and transitions.
  • Integrate culturally responsive practices that affirm student identity and strengthen belonging.
  • Build a positive, inclusive classroom culture grounded in relationships, consistency, and respect.
  • Support students in developing self-regulation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Use restorative and relational approaches to address conflict and build community.
  • Implement schoolwide Positive Behavior Support strategies and reinforce behavioral expectations.
  • Collaborate with Student Advisors, Teaching Assistants, and the Clinical Team to support student needs.
  • Maintain a safe classroom environment that anticipates and prevents escalations.
  • Model strategies for healthy habits, perseverance, and social-emotional growth.
  • Work collaboratively with grade-level teams, specialists, Student Advisors, and administrators.
  • Participate in Trust-Based Observations and engage in reflective coaching aligned with UNITED values.
  • Attend required meetings, professional development sessions, and family engagement events.
  • Communicate consistently with families regarding student progress, celebrations, and concerns.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and commitment to growth as an educator.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grading, IEP documentation, and required reports.
  • Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Implement accommodations, modifications, and supports per IEP and Section 504 plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards.
