About The Position

South College is seeking a Library & Instructional Technician to join their team. This full-time position involves supporting instructional design and technology initiatives, assisting students with Canvas and other instructional technologies, and providing library services. The role requires excellent customer service, problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain library resources and equipment. The technician will also supervise Federal Work Study students, issue ID cards, and participate in campus events and professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum Associate’s Degree
  • Advanced verbal and written communication often in stressful situations involving students or co-workers
  • Fast-paced work environment requiring quick adaptation skills in a changing strategic and tactical workplace

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Library experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work with Instructional Design and Technology leadership on projects that support the IDT team.
  • Assist students with navigating Canvas courses.
  • Provide training and support for the basics of Canvas and other instructional technologies that support teaching and learning.
  • Assist with IDT Help Desk on level 1 tickets.
  • Provide excellent customer service and problem solving skills in assisting all users.
  • Direct users to a librarian for further assistance as needed.
  • Assist with maintenance and use of library collection, printer, computers, and laptops.
  • Provide accurate circulation, interlibrary loan, and inter-campus loan services.
  • Collect and report library usage data monthly and as requested.
  • Supervise assigned Federal Work Study to provide sufficient coverage for all hours.
  • Issue college ID cards to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Maintain equipment and order supplies.
  • Participate in assigned department teams, projects, and committees.
  • Participate in Welcome Sessions and other assigned campus events to represent the library department.
  • Attend all department and institutional meetings and training sessions as requested by supervisor.
  • Participate in a minimum of one professional development and one community service activity each year.

  • Adhere to all policies and guidelines established by the institution, school, department, affiliated partners, as described in the employee handbook, and any other directives or memoranda.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
