About The Position
Information Commons is now hiring Information Commons Assistants for Fall 2026. IC Assistants help students, faculty, staff, and other patrons with basic information and research needs, provide basic technology support, and much more. IC Assistants work at both the IC desk at Irwin Library and the service point in the Science Library. They assist students, faculty, staff, and other patrons with basic information and research needs, provide basic technology and rich media support, and refer individuals to librarians when more in-depth assistance is needed.
Requirements
- Submit a current résumé.
- Respond to a prompt about how experiences, interests, or academic/professional/personal goals align with the Information Commons program.
Responsibilities
- Assist students, faculty, staff, and other patrons with basic information and research needs.
- Provide basic technology and rich media support.
- Refer individuals to librarians when more in-depth assistance is needed.
- Maintain a regular, 8-10 hr/wk work schedule.
