About The Position

The Library & Curriculum/Resource Assistant manages all campus curriculum and library resources. They will teach assigned TEKS & lessons for social studies and/or social-emotional learning. This role is responsible for managing the resources of the library & curriculum room, teaching scholars to improve social studies knowledge and/or social-emotional skills, and inspiring a love of books, reading, and learning. This is a 12-month at-will employee position.

Requirements

  • Manage the resources of the library & curriculum room.
  • Teach and work directly with scholars to improve social studies knowledge and/or social-emotional skills.

  • Maintain and organize all library materials.
  • Catalog new books into the library automation system (Follett Destiny Library Manager).
  • Open the library in the morning and during scholar lunches/breaks.
  • Manage study hall groups assigned to the library.
  • Maintain the neatness, cleanliness, and overall organization of the library.
  • Receive, process, and catalog new library materials using Follett Destiny systems.
  • Maintain accurate digital records of all library assets.
  • Manage daily circulation of library materials.
  • Assist with compiling, reviewing, and curating book lists for library collection development.
  • Manage overdue, lost, or damaged materials.
  • Repair and preserve library materials.
  • Support scholars in selecting �just right� books.
  • Learn and utilize the Accelerated Reader (AR) system.
  • Provide guidance to scholars on the responsible use and care of library materials.
  • Implement library rules/procedures and follow school drills and sub protocol procedures.
  • Participate in the recruiting and training of other library support personnel.
  • Manage, Organize, and Run the Campus Book Fair.
  • Perform uniform checks.
  • Receive, maintain, and organize all campus curriculum materials.
  • Maintain the neatness, cleanliness, and overall organization of the curriculum room.
  • Receive, process, catalog, and distribute curriculum materials.
  • Maintain accurate digital records of all curriculum assets.
  • Manage circulation of curriculum materials.
  • Support teachers with the distribution of curriculum resources.
  • Maintain and monitor inventory of curriculum room resources.
  • Coordinate the annual distribution and collection of curriculum materials.
  • Support curriculum and library systems, including Destiny Follett, Accelerated Reader, Clever, My School Bucks, Google Workspace, and Skyward.
  • Regularly evaluate library and curriculum materials.
  • Teach the Beta adopted social-emotional and or social studies curriculum to scholars.
  • Teach scholars the importance of hard work through joyful rigor.
  • Implement the three BA non-negotiable instructional methods: Whole Brain Teaching, Interactive Scholar Notebooks, and Hands-On Learning.
  • Foster a love of learning and celebrate scholar successes.
  • Challenge scholars to reach their highest potential.
  • Model and promote BA character traits to scholars.
  • Recognize and reward scholars for displaying BA character traits.
  • Uphold zero tolerance for bullying and disrespect.
  • Monitor and assess scholars� daily work.
  • Ensure scholars do their best in every subject and use neat, legible handwriting on assignments.
  • Demonstrate BA standards of excellence.
  • Take ownership of the campus and instill a sense of personal responsibility in scholars daily.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by being in regular attendance and arriving on time to work, staff meetings, tutorials, cafeteria duty, parent nights and other assigned duties.
  • Complete required training on time.
  • Work cooperatively to create an atmosphere of unity among the school community.
  • Refrain from gossip, negativity and unsupportive comments.
  • Demonstrate professionalism at ALL times.
  • Exercise wisdom by remaining calm, respectful and non-defensive during parent meetings, disagreements, and personal attacks.
  • Utilize professional communication with strong grammar, syntax, usage and/or spelling skills.
  • Refrain from attacking others, fighting, or engaging in controversial subjects on social media.
  • Use professional communication on and off campus.
  • Exhibit professionalism in appearance and follow the BA standard of dress.
  • Apply the standard of dress to social media posts.
  • Regularly communicate to parents about scholar achievement levels, class behavior, assigned homework, academic needs, and any concerns.
  • Check Beta email a minimum of three times daily during normal working hours and check in-box daily.
  • Commit to read updates, notes, and employee notices in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and organizes all library materials.
  • Catalogs new books into the library automation system (Follett Destiny Library Manager).
  • Opens the library in the morning and during scholar lunches/breaks to allow scholars to check out library books/materials.
  • Manages any study hall groups assigned to the library throughout the day.
  • Maintains the neatness, cleanliness, and overall organization of the library, including books, furniture, and other materials.
  • Receives, processes, and catalogs new library materials using Follett Destiny systems.
  • Maintains accurate digital records of all library assets, ensuring proper tracking, labeling, and inventory control.
  • Manages daily circulation of library materials, including check-in/check-out procedures for scholars.
  • Assists with compiling, reviewing, and curating book lists for library collection development and replenishment.
  • Manages overdue, lost, or damaged materials, including tracking, communication, and collection of applicable fines or replacement costs.
  • Repairs and preserves library materials, including covering paperback books and maintaining the longevity of the collection.
  • Supports scholars in selecting �just right� books aligned to their reading levels and interests, fostering a love of reading.
  • Learns and utilizes the Accelerated Reader (AR) system to guide scholars in understanding their reading levels and making appropriate book selections.
  • Provides guidance to scholars on the responsible use and care of library materials.
  • Implements library rules/procedures and follows school drills and sub protocol procedures in accordance with the Parent/Scholar Handbook.
  • Participates in the recruiting and training of other library support personnel such as library aides/assistants, VIP scholars, and volunteer parents/community members (as needed).
  • Manages, Organizes, and Runs the Campus Book Fair.
  • Performs uniform checks and understands that scholars are expected to follow the BA appearance guidelines.
  • Receives, maintains, and organizes all campus curriculum materials.
  • Maintains the neatness, cleanliness, and overall organization of the curriculum room, including materials and resources.
  • Receives, processes, catalogs, and distributes curriculum materials during the summer and throughout the school year using Follett Destiny Resource Manager system.
  • Maintains accurate digital records of all curriculum assets, ensuring proper tracking, labeling, and inventory control.
  • Manages circulation of curriculum materials, including check-in/check-out procedures for staff.
  • Supports teachers with the distribution of curriculum resources, including pulling, preparing, and checking out requested materials from the curriculum room.
  • Maintains and monitors inventory of curriculum room resources, ensuring materials are readily available and organized for instructional use.
  • Coordinates the annual distribution and collection of curriculum materials, including checking out materials to teachers at the beginning of the school year and checking them back in at the end of the year.
  • Supports curriculum and library systems, including Destiny Follett, Accelerated Reader, Clever, My School Bucks, Google Workspace, and Skyward, to ensure effective resource management and access.
  • Regularly evaluates library and curriculum materials to identify items that need to be replaced, replenished, or repaired to maintain a high-quality, accessible collection.
  • Teaches the Beta adopted social-emotional and or social studies curriculum to scholars (as assigned by campus or district leadership).
  • Teaches scholars the importance of hard work through joyful rigor--engaging, dynamic learning that is academically, intellectually, and personally challenging.
  • Implements the three BA non-negotiable instructional methods: Whole Brain Teaching, Interactive Scholar Notebooks, and Hands-On Learning (as applicable).
  • Understands that classroom observational feedback/scores will emphasize the successful implementation of the above teaching methods.
  • Fosters a love of learning and celebrates scholar successes.

  • Applies this standard of dress to social media posts in regards to modesty in dress and action (ex: swimsuit, cleavage, & shirtless pictures, in addition to posts with alcohol, cigarettes and bars etc.).
  • Regularly communicates to parents about scholar achievement levels, class behavior, assigned homework, academic needs, and any concerns.
  • Checks Beta email a minimum of three times daily during normal working hours and checks in-box daily and commits to read updates, notes, and employee notices in a timely manner.
