About The Position

The Library Coordinator provides professional, effective, and efficient assistance to fellow co-workers and the general public. This role involves a wide variety of highly responsible and complex duties for the Library Department. For full-time positions, this role includes supervising, scheduling, and reviewing Library Technicians responsible for providing circulation services at the Mesquite Public Library. All behaviors must comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of formal or informal education, training, or work experience which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
  • Cash handling experience required (Full-time Positions).
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience preferred (Full-time Positions).
  • Library experience preferred (Full-time and part-time Positions).

Responsibilities

  • Provide the best possible customer service to the public by responding to, resolving, or directing to appropriate co-worker’s library patron inquiries and complaints.
  • Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for circulation staff supervision and performance, including planning work duties, arranging schedules and managing staff performance ranging from hiring to regular reviews and disciple procedures when necessary (Full-time positions).
  • Coordinate all circulation desk services including checking in and out library materials, managing library cards and patron accounts, and performing proper cash handling procedures.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish circulation desk services; implement policies and procedures.
  • Use the Integrated Library System to manage circulation tasks.
  • Assist library patrons in using the library including responding to reference questions, advising patrons on reading material and reviewing the proper usage of library material and equipment (Part-time positions).
  • Assist in organizing and implementing library programs in the library space and throughout the community.
  • Manage materials ordering and processing as assigned by supervisor.
