About The Position

Responsible for the day-to-day on-site operation of the campus library. This role works under the direct supervision or oversight of Campus Administration and is responsible for supporting library programs, instructional needs, and technology liaison for the campus.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate
  • Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills
  • Ability to use library and media center resources to conduct research
  • Ability to follow district cataloging system
  • Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • 3 years of experience working with children

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of library experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Implement school library programs and create a conducive learning environment.
  • Assist library patrons in using library/media center resources, including computers and other equipment.
  • Make recommendations for acquisitions of materials and equipment.
  • Provide individual and group instruction for students and library users on research techniques.
  • Supervise students working on assignments and reinforce reading instruction as directed by teachers.
  • Read to small groups of students and listen to individual students read aloud.
  • Schedule and prepare materials for classroom instructional use.
  • Maintain the library catalog.
  • Process, organize, distribute, and maintain inventory of library/media center resources.
  • Request and schedule materials from outside sources.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair of books, magazines, materials, and equipment.
  • Arrange for repair of items at outside facilities.
  • Prepare bibliographies, forms, purchase orders, requisitions, and routine correspondence.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Technology Department and Campus regarding inventory, maintenance, and technology support.
  • Manage online payment systems for Campus fees.
  • Monitor students and maintain appropriate behavior and an orderly atmosphere.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
