About The Position

Clay County - Small Towns. Big Passions. Pay: $58,320.00 - $74,162.67 Library Branch Manager supervises daily operations of a branch Library. Responsible for the smooth running of the branch, adherence to County and Library policies and procedures, and the training and supervision of all staff. Responsible for the physical condition and appearance of a library branch.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of professional library principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of library materials, products, services, and current technologies.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and leadership styles and skills.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as a regular part of their work week.
  • In case of emergency or crisis situation (hurricane, flood, etc.) position is required to respond/perform emergency and recovery duties as assigned by the County Manager or designee.
  • During an emergency or crisis situation, this position will/may be required to be present at the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) to provide assistance while activated.
  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required for Branch Manager I.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a library or related setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role for Branch Manager I.
  • Training in basic library operations, customer services, and introductory management for Branch Manager I.
  • Must be able to keyboard accurately and have a good understanding of Microsoft Suite applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required for Branch Manager II.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a library setting, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or managerial role for Branch Manager II.
  • Training in library operations, customer service, and management for Branch Manager II.
  • MLIS is required for Branch Manager III.
  • 5-10 years in library management, including significant training in library operations, supervision and/or leadership for Branch Manager III.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Any combination of education and experience may be substituted, so long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the collection (for Branch Manager II and III).

Responsibilities

  • Supervises daily operations of a branch Library.
  • Responsible for the smooth running of the branch, adherence to County and Library policies and procedures, and the training and supervision of all staff.
  • Responsible for the physical condition and appearance of a library branch.
  • Interviews, trains, supervises, and evaluates branch staff.
  • Manages branch funds.
  • Responds to questions and/or complaints from patrons and interprets policies and procedures.
  • Makes recommendations for disciplinary action and assesses security issues for immediate resolution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Assists in system wide staff training programs.
