About The Position

Prince George's County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) is currently accepting applications for Library Associate positions. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish, as well as experience with special collections or archival work, are highly desirable. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
One to three years of library experience (or equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities).
Strong communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with customers and staff.
Ability to learn specialized functions with moderate training.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Provides reference, reader's advisory, and technical assistance to library customers.
Instructs customers on the use of library catalogs and databases.
Supports library programs, events and circulation desk operations.
Assists with collection maintenance.
Develops library displays and community notices.
Supports the interlibrary loan process as needed.
Creates and maintains library customer accounts.
Supervises library volunteers as needed.
Provides excellent customer service and resolves customer inquiries and concerns.
Performs routine data entry and record maintenance.
Supports special projects and performs additional duties as assigned.
