Responsible for providing desk coverage and assistance to library internal and external customers, including but not limited to, circulation, program presentation, information, and computer assistance services. This position requires providing assistance and instruction to library customers in person, over the telephone, or by electronic mail. It also involves assisting and instructing customers in the use of library equipment and services, such as readers advisory, basic reference searches, online catalog, MakerSpace, digital collections, public computers, printers, and other library machinery. The role includes completing registration for new library customers, updating library accounts, checking in returned materials, assessing items, and checking out library materials. Additionally, the position involves collecting fees and processing payments, organizing and straightening materials on shelves, maintaining collections, assisting with program preparation and promotion, and preparing publicity materials, displays, and bulletin boards. Monitoring the condition of returned materials and performing minor repairs is also part of the duties.
