Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED
  • One (1) year of fast-paced, professional customer service or related experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Commitment to providing inclusive service to a diverse community
  • Comfortable engaging with patrons of all ages, including children, teens, and those who speak languages other than English
  • Initiative, creativity, and flexibility
  • Willingness to grow and learn

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of education beyond high school
  • Three (3) or more years of customer service experience
  • Prior library experience
  • A valid Florida Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Check materials in and out, assist with holds, and update patron records
  • Issue and renew library cards while maintaining accurate accounts
  • Provide friendly, helpful service at the circulation desk
  • Help patrons find materials and navigate basic library services
  • Sort, shelve, and shift materials to keep collections organized and accessible
  • Operate self-check machines, computers, copiers, and other equipment
  • Collect fines and fees and help prepare daily deposits
  • Prepare reports, order supplies, and ensure materials remain in good condition
