About The Position

The City of Coppell is seeking a Library Assistant who provide friendly, professional circulation support and clerical assistance that keeps our library running smoothly. These positions play a vital role in connecting residents to resources, information, and one another—enhancing learning, curiosity, and community belonging. Library Assistants support daily operations, assist patrons with checkouts, account information, and interlibrary loan processes, and contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors. They work collaboratively with a dedicated team to ensure efficient service, accurate materials processing, and positive public interactions. Ideal candidates are adaptable, dependable, and committed to the City’s Culture of Credibility and dedication to exceptional community experiences.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Works effectively as part of a team.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with city staff, citizens, and other individuals using the English language.
  • Performs multiple tasks simultaneously and adapts to frequent changes in priorities under time pressures.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of library experience is preferred.
  • Municipal library experience, bilingual ability, and/or higher education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, professional circulation support and clerical assistance.
  • Assist patrons with checkouts, account information, and interlibrary loan processes.
  • Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors.
  • Work collaboratively with a dedicated team to ensure efficient service, accurate materials processing, and positive public interactions.
  • Utilize a personal computer and the library’s Integrated Library System (ILS).
  • Operate a motor vehicle safely for travel within the city and to library-related events.
