About The Position

Responsible for providing circulation and patron services at a branch or department level. This role involves collection management, patron assistance, and maintaining professional working relationships within the library system.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of library principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of current research methods, techniques, and sources of information.
  • Knowledge of library materials and resources.
  • Knowledgeable in methods of storing and retrieving materials.
  • Knowledge of classification methods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Good interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Ability to perform basic email tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and general knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Research skills and the ability to use digital and print resources.
  • Ability to learn and utilize a variety of library technologies.
  • Able to assist, direct, and coordinate others.
  • General knowledge of technology trends, including mobile devices and social media.
  • Ability to navigate the Internet.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and push a cart of 50 pounds.

  • Previous experience in a library setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage collection appearance, orderliness, and shelving of materials.
  • Process new periodicals and donated materials.
  • Perform circulation transactions including charging/discharging materials, registering patrons, and collecting fines.
  • Provide information services, including research assistance, readers' advisory, and managing holds/requests.
  • Assist patrons with technology, internet access, and electronic resources.
  • Address patron complaints and concerns effectively.
  • Perform daily branch financial reports and deposits.
  • Assist in developing and implementing library programs and services.
  • Engage in continuous learning and training to improve job skills.
  • Develop and enhance computer and technology skills.
  • Stay informed about library services, resources, activities, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain professional working relations and effective communication with staff and patrons.
  • Promote the Library’s Core Values in daily activities.
  • Work efficiently individually and as part of a team.
  • Ensure library areas are clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Participate on committees, special projects, and attend meetings as required.
