About The Position

The Centennial Library Assistant II position is located at the Centennial Library (CL) in Muncie, IN. This is a part-time role, 25 hours/week, with a varied schedule within the library's open hours (Mon-Thurs 9am-6pm, Sat 9am-1pm). The Muncie Public Library (MPL) aims to provide accessible and innovative services responding to the reading, informational, educational, and enrichment needs of the community. The Centennial Library, formerly known as Connection Corner, is MPL's technology branch located on the east side of Muncie in the Whitely neighborhood. CL is not a full circulating library, but its resources include gaming with the latest video games as well as retro games, technology and creativity using the green screen and studio, VHS, cassette tape, and vinyl transfers to flash drives or DVDs, 3D printing, and a sublimation printer and heat press. The purpose of this position is to oversee public technology operations and assist customers with the use of computers, iPads, iMacs, and any other technology in Centennial Library.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with computer applications (both Windows and OS), internet searching, use of Library equipment, website, catalog, locating materials, Digital Climbers and similar activities
  • Perform circulation functions including preparation of deposit slips, assisting with registration audits as requested, and serve as a resource for information about circulation policies and procedures
  • Plan, promote, and host programs and participate in community outreach events
  • Assist children with homework help, games, stories, activities, etc.
  • Occasionally be responsible for the whole building
