Performs responsible paraprofessional and clerical work in the library. An employee in this class provides customer service in circulation, reader’s advisory, and general provision of library services. Work may include assisting with cataloging collection and/or planning and implementing programs for all ages. Work includes checking books or other media in and out, assisting patrons in locating books, typing, filing, issuing library cards, collecting fines and tracking down lost items, shelving books, DVDs, and audiobooks, preparing materials for programs and displays, and assisting patrons in the use of catalogs, computers, and other equipment. Work requires accuracy and significant public contact. Work also requires employees to be tactful and courteous. Work is performed under regular supervision. Work is evaluated for customer service effectiveness and accuracy of work activities through daily observations, discussions, and reviews of completed work. This is a non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime and compensatory time in accordance with Town policy. This is a part-time role offering great flexibility! You will work a maximum of 20 hours per week, with flexibility to build your schedule within our Library core business hours of 9:00am - 6:00pm.
