About The Position

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions as Librarians for the 2027 Academic School Year. This posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants for potential openings at one of LACCD's nine colleges. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate, and work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates may indicate which LACCD colleges are of interest for employment, and qualified applicants may be offered an interview with Library Departmental members. Final assignment is contingent upon enrollment, funding, and class availability. Faculty may be required to provide services in a virtual learning environment using Canvas or other remote learning methods.

Requirements

Master's in Library Science, Library and Information Science OR the equivalent.
A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption for COVID-19.
Provide vaccination status in compliance with LACCD Board of Trustees’ policy.

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated certification in Blackboard, Canvas or Course Compass or other online modalities may be given preference.

Responsibilities

Service as a librarian at a library facility at one of the nine (9) LACCD colleges.
Promoting engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
Being culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities and ethnicities, socio-economic levels, ages, identities, abilities and educational experiences.
