Requirements

  • At least one year of post-high school coursework or experience in: administration, office management, accounting, finance, planning, policy analysis and implementation, administrative/management analysis, operations research, program evaluation, research, or similar fields, or in a field related to the programs or functions of the employing agency.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations, NDOT policies, and Board procedures governing work assigned.
  • Knowledge of Office management and record-keeping methods and practices.
  • Knowledge/ability to develop and revise budgets and process invoices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, including knowing when to seek help from supervisors or coworkers.
  • Superior organization skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner.
  • Must be detail-oriented and comfortable working with various project tasks.
  • Ability to interact with immediate supervisor and senior managers, employees, and the public to gain their cooperation and to establish work relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with communication/teamwork.
  • Experience in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with developing/revising budgets and processing invoices

Responsibilities

  • Support the administrative functions of the Board of Classification and Standards, including assisting with meetings, documentation, and follow-up actions.
  • Manage local agency certifications, training, and workforce development reimbursements, and related program administration.
  • Improve operational efficiency, streamline training and reimbursement processes, and strengthen fiscal accountability.
  • Perform complex program-administrative and intergovernmental liaison functions that require specialized knowledge of state statutes, NDOT policies, Board procedures, and federal requirements.
  • Work independently, assisting in administering the local agency certification processes.
  • Coordinate LTAP training and workforce development reimbursement, supporting policy development, and monitoring program compliance.
  • Provide guidance to local agencies and stakeholders.
  • Provide recommendations to senior leadership and the Board of Classification and Standards on policy interpretation, program improvements, and operational issues.
  • Promote accountability, consistency, and effective delivery of transportation-related programs that support Nebraska’s local agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
