About The Position

Hazel Park Junior High, a high-needs school within the Hazel Park School District, is seeking applicants for the position of Level 2 Resource Room Teacher. This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position for the 2026-2027 school year. The district serves approximately 3,000 students and is supported by a caring and professional staff. The Hazel Park community is proud and supportive of its schools, staff, and student population. The role involves providing instruction and support to students with all abilities.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with any Special Education Endorsement required
  • Highly Qualified in accordance with No Child Left Behind Guidelines
  • Experience in providing instructional services to students with all abilities
  • Experience in providing visual schedules, daily routines, and flexible behavioral interventions for students
  • The ability to write, implement, and monitor IEP's
  • Knowledge and/or understanding in consistent use of data to monitor student growth, inform instruction, and develop interventions
  • Experience in differentiated instruction, Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports Systems, and individualized programming options for students
  • Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum
  • Superior communication skills in writing and speaking with all levels of management and staff
  • Applicants must be able to show proof of a satisfactory criminal background check as defined by state standards

Responsibilities

  • Provide differentiated instruction to students on caseload
  • Evaluate and monitor student growth, and develop targeted interventions
  • Maintain contact with parents of caseload students
  • Complete caseload monthly Medicaid Billing Plan and participate in MET and IEPT meetings when appropriate
  • Consult, communicate, and collaborate with other professionals regarding specific students, educational plans and programs
  • Adapt materials and activities according to students needs
  • Maintain records in accordance with professional standards, federal and state guidelines, and school district policy
  • Prioritize and schedule tasks
  • Manage inventory of equipment, assessments, and supplies
  • Direct and supervisor the classroom paraprofessional
  • Other duties as assigned by administrator
